Experience Fall On The Crystal Coast

There is no denying that the beautiful blue water and sunshine during summertime is a perfect time of year to visit the Crystal Coast. However, many forget that it is easy to fall in love with the Crystal Coast during the Fall.

There are so many events all throughout the season that come paired with a cool breeze and sunsets that will take your breath away. Take a look at some of the most popular events and book your stay to experience Fall on the Crystal Coast!

Concerts

Second Saturdays Concert with Mikele Buck

On October 8th, the last concert of this “Second Saturday” concert series will be held at the Morehead City Dr. MLK Jr. Park from 6:30 to 8 PM. Music by Mikele Buck will play and you can enjoy delicious food from Mari’s Hella Fat Food Truck.

Bring out your friends and family to enjoy a beautiful evening on the waterfront.

Alive at Five – The Embers

Another concert series comes to an end with beach music legends, The Embers. Come to downtown Morehead City at 5 pm to dance the evening away and watch the sunset over the waterfront while listening to one of the Crystal Coasts favorite bands.

Festivals

Crystal Coast Highland Games

Whether you have Celtic roots or not, this is a great event for everyone. The Crystal Coast hosts the Highland Games with both amateur and professional divisions with competitors coming from across the country to compete.

Clans will be present with tents to learn all about their history as well as highland dancing, music, food trucks, breweries, and even games for the kids.

The highlight of the festival will be the classic Highland games such as the caber toss, stone put and sheaf toss. You won’t want to miss the excitement that comes from cheering on these athletes on Beaufort Gallants Channel.

Garner’s Fall Festival

A local favorite is Garner’s Fall Festival which can be enjoyed every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm all month long. Enjoy a catapult pumpkin toss, face painting, petting zoo, pony rides, and tractor train rides. Slide down the tall shoot slides on potato sacks, lay in a pit of corn kernels, or take your chance in the massive corn maze.

Don’t forget to hop on the hayride to go pick out your own pumpkins in the field. It is the quintessential Fall event straight from a Hallmark movie that you can come back all month long to enjoy and will be your children’s new favorite place.

Camp Albemarle Fall Festival

Come out to Camp Albemarle on October 29th from 3 to 7 pm to enjoy their 3rd annual festival. $20 per car includes all games and activities and all proceeds from this event will benefit the Alby After School program.

Enjoy games, live music, pumpkin chunkin, hayrides, axe throwing, and of course, all the trick or treat stops along the way to fill your children’s baskets. Come in your best Halloween costume and enjoy all the fun!

North Carolina Seafood Festival

This annual event has become synonymous with Morehead City and rightfully so. Held September 30th to October 2nd, this weekend festival is jam-packed with things for the whole family.

Stroll down the Morehead City waterfront look at local vendors and purchase a few goodies to take home. From local artists, plants, jewelry, and even wine, there will be something that catches your eye.

Of course, one of the most popular attractions is seafood. Food trucks and vendors line the street featuring every type of seafood you can imagine. Grab a shrimp basket, some clam strips, fried oysters, shrimp burgers, fish tacos, crab cakes and so much more! Your seafood dreams will be made over the course of the three days!

Marathons

Emerald Isle Marathon

Come out to Emerald Isle on October 22nd to run for charity in the marathon, half marathon or 5K divisions. The proceeds from this event will be donated to maintain the Bike and Pedestrian Path on Emerald Isle as well as a local health related charity. Even better- this event is a Boston Qualifier! Enjoy the amazing Crystal Coast while supporting keeping it that way.

Tuna Run 200

For both avid runners and those who just want to participate with their friends to test their endurance, this race is for you. The 200 mile race begins on October 28th just outside of Raleigh in which teams of 4 to 12 people take turns running to checkpoints across North Carolina’s beautiful scenic routes until they finish in Atlantic Beach.

If 200 miles seems a bit daunting, there is also a 70 mile option which begins on October 29th in Trenton. Teams of 2 to 6 people will meet up with the 200 mile competitors to run the last legs of the race.

Gather your friends to compete in this special experience that ends on the Crystal Coast with a post race party of tuna and beer.

Tournaments

Atlantic Beach King Mackerel Tournament

Novice to experienced fishermen can enjoy competing until the 22nd to allow for safety from rough weather or even potential hurricane interruptions. This annual event is a fundraising event to provide life saving equipment for the Atlantic Beach Fire Department.

Take your friends and family on the boat throughout the month of October to enjoy the still beautiful Crystal Coast, have some fun fishing and help out an amazing cause that will benefit so many in Atlantic Beach.
