Crab’s Claw
Location: 201 W. Atlantic Blvd., Atlantic Beach, NC
Crab’s Claw is your quintessential casual dining spot on the water. It’s all about affordable seafood, local delicacies, and, of course, sweet mojitos.
The menu includes few local staples and traditional southern coastal dishes, such as the grilled grouper coated in dill honey mustard sauce. The blackened tuna is sprinkled with Cajun spices, and includes a side of pineapple mango salsa. The Cajun fried flounder is rolled in fine spices, and stuck in a fresh Kaiser roll.
Crab’s Claw’s “from the farm” options include pork and beef plates, including some Caribbean specialties. They also have a varied kids’ menu. The delectable food is enjoyed in a casual atmosphere, overlooking the Atlantic from a large patio.
Crab’s Claw is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays).
Oceanana Pier and Pier House Restaurant
Location: 700 E. Fort Macon Rd., Atlantic Beach, NC
If you’re an early bird, Oceanana has the right breakfast for you. Their sunrise breakfast served from 6 to 11 a.m. boasts a long list breakfast plates and sandwiches, sweet and savory.
Not limited to the morning meal, the menu includes Carolina chili burgers, oyster burgers, crab cake sandwiches, and some stellar seafood tacos for lunch. For dinner, try the rib-eye steak, shrimp and flounder plates, and New Orleans-style BBQ shrimp.
The restaurant is pure Americana – north and south combined – with baskets of local seafood, great burgers, and a view of the water that doubles the value.
It’s also the only ocean fishing pier in Atlantic Beach which goes out almost 1,000 feet into the ocean for a wide variety of different types of fishing, if that is your interest. Rod and reel rentals are available along with fishing passes.

Channel Marker
Location: 718 Atlantic Beach Causeway, Atlantic Beach, NC
Channel Marker specializes in high-end seafood dining with a dazzling waterfront view.
The menu, which includes luxuries like their Lump Crab Cake, ahi seared tuna, classic Bang Bang shrimp, local sea scallops, stuffed flounder, is full of the classic seafood dishes of North Carolina.
The restaurant is on the foot of the historic causeway bridge, making Channel Marker a historic landmark for locals, and a dining mainstay to the region.
Since 1981, the restaurant has been a friendly sight for visitors entering and leaving the area, with light from its large patio spilling over the inlet water.
Channel Marker is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seasonally starting in the Spring and they close for the Winter season, so be sure to call ahead of time at (252) 247-2344 to check if they are open when you visit.
Amos Mosquito’s Restaurant
Location: 703 E. Fort Macon Rd., Atlantic Beach, NC
Once you’ve been, you won’t forget this cozy seaside shack. Amos Mosquito’s Restaurant’s restaurant highlights meatloaf dishes, pork plates, and high-quality seafood at affordable, family-friendly prices.
It features a nice view of the water on the outside patio, and from several seats on the inside, along with quirky décor and delicious locally sourced sustainable food with generous portions.
The restaurant is open from 5 p.m. to around 9 p.m. and closed Sunday through Tuesday. Don’t miss the Sushi and Karaoke night on Thursdays!
