Where is Indian Beach?
Indian Beach is a small community located right between Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle on Bogue Banks. It acts as a wonderful transition to the more attraction-heavy Atlantic Beach and the majestic and calm Emerald Isle.
Indian Beach is quite narrow with a total area of 1.5 square miles and has two sides, one facing Bogue Sound and the other facing the Atlantic Ocean.
The town itself was first incorporated in 1973 and it has a total population of just under 100 residents. It received its name for the Indian burial mounds that were found there just before it was incorporated.
The area is known for its scenic maritime forests which offer pleasant viewing as you drive through. There are a few nice beach and waterfront viewing opportunities to enjoy while visiting this small local escape.
The Ocean Side of Indian Beach
Indian Beach has a single designated beach access point on the Atlantic Ocean side. It is located at 302-398 Ocean Dr, Emerald Isle, NC 28594. The public beach access offers facilities such as picnic tables to enjoy a relaxing lunch, showers, bathrooms and a wooden walkway.
