Although Mug Shots brands itself as “The Locals’ Café,” guests from near and far feel right at home the second they walk through the door! This bright and welcoming space will have you feeling refreshed as soon as you step inside, and the staff will always greet you with a smile. Coffee drinks include classic options like espresso, latte, cappuccino, mocha, and more. You can also choose from their wide range of cold drinks and cocktails! Pair your drink with a muffin, scone or other light fare from the café to finish it off, or grab another sweet treat from one of these Atlantic Beach dessert shops to take with you!
Mug Shots is located at 2302-G Arendell Street in Morehead City. They are open Monday through Wednesday from 7:30 AM to 9 PM, Thursday and Friday from 7:30 AM to 10 PM, Saturday from 8 AM to 10 PM and Sunday from 8 AM to 2 PM.
Crystal Coast Coffee Roasters takes pride in offering some of the freshest coffee in the area, roasted daily in small batches for the highest possible quality. Calico Creek Coffee Bar has two missions: provide their guests with the best cup of coffee in the area and give those struggling with addiction a second chance at life. Located within One Harbor Church in Morehead City, this coffee bar offers delicious drinks for a great cause. The helpful staff can recommend a specialty drink like their cold foam cold brew, hot sweet latte, espresso con panna, and more. They even have protein-based beverages if you need something with a bit of extra substance to start your day! And once you have you have your order, you can take in the unbeatable views from your Atlantic oceanfront rental!
Calico Creek Coffee Bar is located at 1605 Fisher Street in Morehead City. They are open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 12 noon.
Breakfast and Brunch Restaurants
Now that you’ve had your coffee, it’s time for the main event: breakfast! Head over to 4 Corners Diner for the classic American breakfast you crave. Their welcoming atmosphere lets you know right away that you’re in for a memorable meal, and once you take a look at the menu, you might struggle to decide on just one dish! 4 Corners Diner is located at 100 East Fort Macon Road in Atlantic City. They are open daily at 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, they are open until 2 p.m., but on Friday and Saturday, they stay open until 8:30 p.m.
Grumpy’s is another area favorite that has long captured the hearts of locals, but it’s still a relatively hidden gem for visitors to the area. The food here is delicious enough to wipe the frown off of any face! Their breakfast specials are constantly changing to always offer something new, but you can rest assured that it’s always going to be delicious. Hopefully, they’ll be cooking up some eggs benedict while you’re in town!
Grumpy’s is located at 907-A Arendell Street in Morehead City. They are open daily at 7 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, they are open until 1:45 p.m., but on Saturday and Sunday, they close at 12:45 p.m.
The Turner Street Market is an incredible destination for breakfast, brunch, bakery options, and so much more! First thing in the morning, they kick things off with mouthwatering selections like their Big Apple Bagel, Turkish Eggs, Turner Street Toast, and TSM Hash. You can also grab a pastry like a warm blueberry muffin or a sunshine tart. If you want to come in later in the day, they also have an incredible lunch menu! Turner Street Market truly has it all and is one of Beaufort’s best restaurants for families.

Finally, if you’re looking for something a bit more refined, 34° North Restaurant is just the place. They combine upscale cuisine with a welcoming atmosphere and craft each dish with only the freshest local ingredients. Eating a meal here is a great way to support local and regional farmers! Their breakfast menu has some delicious options, from the Beaufort Benedict to the Egg White Frittata to the Buttermilk Pancakes and more. 34° North Restaurant is located at 2440 Lennoxville Road just down the road from our Beaufort vacation rentals. They are open for breakfast Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Weekend brunch is offered Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., along with the standard dinner service.
